About Us 关于我们
Red Maple Elderly Club is a non-profit public welfare organization. Since its establishment in 2004, it has had over 1,500 registered members. Due to high mobility, the number of active members each year is around 140.
With the increasing number of Chinese immigrants overseas, we often see friends with graying hair who have given up their comfortable lives in their home country to come to Canada for family reasons. Upon arriving in a new country, they face greater mental stress than younger people due to language barriers, lack of transportation, unfamiliar neighborhood relationships, and having no friends outside of family.
Over the years, our club has done a lot of positive and effective work, providing a new recreational space for these seniors and adding various activities beneficial to physical and mental health. Our annual activities include:
- Organizing member birthday parties, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Mother's Day, and Spring Festival celebrations.
- Hosting lectures on health, lifestyle, and medical knowledge for seniors.
- Organizing member trips in spring and fall.
- Visiting and performing at nursing homes.
- Participating in local multicultural festivals, Chinese festivals, and other related events.
These activities not only enrich the lives of our club members but also expand their social circles. The Red Maple Elderly Club has played a very good role as a bridge for this special Chinese community to connect with and understand Canadian society.
